Cayetano Sanz de Santamaria

Based in London

Cayetano Sanz de Santamaría is a visual artist working primarily in painting, drawing, and etching. Drawing on mythology, folklore, and the complexities of the human psyche, his figurative practice weaves together personal experience and symbolic narrative to create works rich in metaphor, humor, and layered meaning. Through his art, he seeks to reflect on contemporary realities while remaining deeply connected to his Colombian identity.

He earned his BFA with Highest Honors from Pratt Institute, New York (2021), and is currently completing an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London. His recent exhibitions include a solo show at Galería La Localidad (Bogotá), and group shows with Arusha Gallery, JGM Gallery, and BWG Gallery (London). He was awarded the Tagsmart Prize at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and produced exclusive prints for Caracol TV. His work The Lord of Light (2022) received the highest bid at the National Museum of Bogotá’s silent auction.
